The US was once a leader in nuclear energy, but today we are decades behind Canada, France, Germany, and India in embracing and advancing safe nuclear energy. The goal of this petition is to increase the use of nuclear technologies that would reduce our dependence on foreign energy supplies, decrease our pollution output by taking fossil fuel power plants offline, reduce the amount of radioactive waste, and ensure our energy independence for decades to come. The technologies required include CANDU reactors to more efficiently use fuel, Fast Breeder reactors to consume most of the radioactive components in used fuel, and spent fuel recycling plants.
I ask the white house promote public knowledge on nuclear energy and push for incentives to build new high-tech reactors in the US.
