To support the continued fight for gender equality,
To recognize the increased presence and contribution of women in front-line military units,
To enlarge the pool of available personnel to serve in times of national crisis,
To eliminate the disparate burden borne by male citizens and residents of this nation,
We ask the President to urge Congress to amend the wording of the Military Selective Service Act, codified at 50 U.S.C. Appendix Sections 451 through 473, to remove "male", "men", and other male-specific adjectives and nouns, and replace them with gender-neutral terms such as "person", "citizen", "resident", etc., to the effect that adult women residents of the United States will become subject to compulsory service on the same terms to which adult men are subject.
