In the wake of the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin, many Americans have expressed disdain over the shortcomings in the Justice system that allowed Zimmerman to walk free. In his July 19 remarks, President Obama urged a national conversation on race, and it is crucial that citizens have access to the information necessary to participate in these discussions. However, the presence of Zimmerman's visage in the vast majority of news sources covering these topics is antithetical to the gathering of this information, as Zimmerman to many represents a racist killer. Please sign this petition to tell Obama to pressure the media to stop discouraging U.S. citizens from seeking valuable information by publishing images of Zimmerman's fat, fugly face.
