If you have ever visited a unit of the National Park system and had a question or attended a formal program, odds are you encountered an education Ranger. In many Parks, where management is forced by budget constraints to cut positions, those rangers that perform direct visitor services are the first to go. Most of these public servants hold temporary or seasonal ranger jobs that do not offer much in the way of benefits or job security. This division of the National Park Service is experiencing a dramatic elimination of front line and support positions.
