Recently, tornadoes destroyed communities in the South. Every year, tornadoes and hurricanes cause destruction of homes and businesses, and the affected communities re-build with the help of federal grants and loan guarantees.
Just as new buildings must comply with modern design and construction standards, and often incorporate newly-available technology and infrastructure, disaster reconstruction funding can require the incorporation of energy efficiency and solar power generation technology. If every new building in Tornado Alley were to incorporate photoelectric rooftop panels, the South and Midwest could become a region of clean energy generation for itself and the nation.
