encourage passage of public funding of political campaigns.

Created by E.H. on September 24, 2011

Too much money is now spent on campaigns for various political positions. Elected officials have to raise large sums for their next election. All campaign expenses should be publicly funded and there should be penalties for anyone found giving or receiving campaign contributions. Free TV, radio time, and newspaper space should be made available to anyone who runs for public office. Anyone could qualify for public office if they are over 21 years old, a citizen, and have filed an application. If many people apply for the same office preliminary public debates should be held and citizens of that area could vote for their first three candidates. Any candidate who received more than 40% of the votes would qualify for the general election.
