In order to curb the spread of infections, including the common cold and flu, we need some form of incentive/penalty to encourage people to stay home, out of public places, when they are contagious. Possibly, this could be accomplished through some sort of employment law reform, or healthcare incentive. I don't wish a nanny state, just something to encourage the common courtesy to not infect your co-workers and the general public.
