The Obama Administration should publicly advocate and pursue a shift of power from the federal to the state level, recognizing the diversity of our nation. Minimizing the federal government and allowing for greater variation between the states is the way to end the bitter national political conflict we've endured for so long, and to avoid the bitter civil war many of us fear in decades to come. Strict limitation of government action is necessary in democracy to avoid minority oppression by a tyrannical majority, and after two centuries of gradual bloat, those limits must be renewed if our nation is to remain whole for centuries to come.
The federal government should leave crime, education, and health to the states, or to the people, and should focus on relations with other nations.
