Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has demonstrated that he is not capable of providing the decisive leadership and legislative skill required of his position. His actions, though well-intentioned, have contributed to legislative gridlock, an atmosphere of partisan incivility, and the frustration of legislative initiatives of great importance to the people Senator Reid is sworn to represent. For the good of the Senate, and the urgent needs of the public it serves, we respectfully ask the President to urge Senator Reid to step aside, following the orderly selection of a new Majority Leader according to the rules of the Senate.
