Encourage states to protect music education in public schools.

Created by V.R. on April 28, 2013

Lately, in an effort to balance the budget, states have begun cutting funding towards music education. Areas such as Eugene, OR, and Madison, WI, have experienced reductions in band and choir programs in primary and secondary schools.

This is intolerable. Music education is vital in promoting creativity and expression. It is one of the best ways to improve critical reasoning skills. In this competitive age, companies are looking for those with musical backgrounds because employers place a premium on creativity. Statistically, a music education has been shown by CollegeBoard to lead to higher test scores and grades. And beyond scientific reasoning, music is simply fun and enjoyable, and deserves to be preserved.

Please support this initiative to protect music in our schools.
