Approximately 143 cigarette butts are littered every second. We want tobacco companies to accept responsibility and create biodegradable filters for cigarettes. We propose an increased tax on tobacco companies that do not switch to biodegradable filters within a certain amount of time. Companies that do switch to biodegradable filters, will be rewarded with a decrease in taxes. This process should cause a lot, hopefully all, of tobacco companies to switch to biodegradable filters without increasing the price of cigarettes.
