I think we really need to consider what all is involved here. Playing "Angry Birds", texting or checking up on your Facebook on a smartphone or a touch screen PC is NOT going to teach children about computers or networking. In fact they insulate the technical details at layer 7+ so well that there is little motivation anymore to understand the fundamental mechanics of the software and hardware technologies underlying our telecommunications systems. How are we supposed to bolster our national defense posture in the age of a 5 domain (sea, land air, space, cyber) without competent young minds that understand technology at it's most basic level. Encourage educators to introduce computer science, hardware, discrete mathematics, and logic as a mandatory component of public education.
