For much of the last century, facial hair has been rare to nonexistent in the highest ranks of American government. Our last bearded president was William Howard Taft, who left office in 1913. The White House, the Cabinet, the Supreme Court and the Congress are all overwhelmingly populated by the clean-shaven. This is not representative of American society, and it gives those of us with facial hair the impression that we can choose it or public service, but not both.
This should change. There's no reason why a bearded American can't serve honorably in the highest offices of the land. For that reason, we strongly encourage Vice President Joe Biden to show his support by growing a full beard and maintaining it for at least one (1) full year.
We also believe it would look awesome on him.
