End across the board Standardized Testing and go back to evidence based learn/teaching methods.

Testing is destroying our schools. Developmentally appropriate practice is the bedrock upon which early childhood education best practices are based, and has decades of empirical support behind it. However, the new reforms not only disregard this research, they are actively forcing teachers to engage in practices which are not only ineffective but actively harmful to child development.
The problem is in the system which values the scores on wildly inappropriate assessments more than teaching students in a meaningful and research based manner. Out of the 180 days of instructional time, more than 1/3 of that time and in some grade levels almost 1/2 of that time is spent testing. How are students supposed to learn when they do not get enough time in the classroom actually being taught?
