Affirmative action in higher education must end because it is a form of discrimination and because it hurts the groups whom it is intended to help. It creates a mismatched minority student body, especially for African Americans and Hispanics. Students who are admitted to universities because of affirmative action often struggle in their classes and fail to graduate. As a results, there are fewer minority professionals in the work fields than there would be without affirmative action. Furthermore, affirmative action rarely benefits the truly disadvantaged Black and Hispanic students. Instead, it mainly benefits middle and upper class minorities. Affirmative action must be ended because it fails to create true diversity and it is a form of reverse discrimination.
