BACKGROUND:
Hurricane Sandy devastated the New York and New Jersey Region. Many homes and businesses were destroyed. Estimates put the damage costs upwards of $50 Billion.
At the same time, the United States is fighting a war in Afghanistan which is costing the taxpayers $300 Million per DAY and has 66,000 American troops deployed. The war is currently scheduled to end in 2014.
THEREFORE,
Due to the current national emergency we are facing, we the people hereby petition the President to withdraw our forces early and direct the funding and manpower to be used towards rebuilding those areas affected by Hurricane Sandy.
