End the Ag Subs!

Created by K.S. on October 11, 2014

Federal agriculture subsidies have strictly limited the diversity of our nation's agriculture. They have favored mono-cropping and unsustainable agricultural practices. Our food supply is increasingly laced with pesticide and herbicide ridden food affecting our nation's health. Farmers are forced into limited options for purchasing seed. On the contrary, organic farms with sustainable practices and great biodiversity suffer from having to compete with industrial farms that get government handouts and undercut small farms. This is not the free market. A brief review of Korea, China, Japan, and New Zealand's agricultural practices will show how far more advanced they are at healthy, sustainable food production. Research what happened when New Zealand stopped Ag subsidies in 1984.
