The Free File Alliance has served its purpose and the members have made a lot of money in the process, soliciting services that no tax-preparer who has the best interests of their client in mind would ever sell. The IRS has had to reign them in over the years and now, at a time when extraordinary technological advances would make income tax filing very simple for a majority of Americans, the IRS needs to stand up to the FFA Lobby and not renew the FFA contract.
