End all agricultural subsidies. The continuation of this practice stratifies the population by economics and health.

Created by S.C. on September 26, 2011

Farming subsidies were created and promoted with the intent of helping struggling farmers to succeed in rough economic times. The past 30 years have seen these policies hijacked by the corporate and fast food lobbies. "By the bushel" subsidies allow corporations to reap the benefits of huge government checks while paying only minimum wages to farm laborers of US origin, and less to the illegal imigrants recruited from across our borders. Animals are subjected to deplorable conditions and workers are treated little better by corporations who claim to have the consumer's best interests in mind, but whose actions tell a different story. While I won't suggest the government outlaw corporate farms, which would require an overhaul of our entire food system I would ask that we stop paying.
