On Monday, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni signed into law a bill that punishes homosexuality with up to life in prision; first time offenders receive a sentence of fourteen years. In a public signing he states that he would not allow "the west" to impose its values on Uganda. Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands has cut aid to Uganda following the decision stating that they did not want aid to flow from their governments that will be used for the prosecution of gay people. The United States provides significant direct aid to Uganda; aproximately $470 million dollers in 2011 according to the U.S. Bureau of Census. We should cut off the stream of aid to Uganda.
