End the archaic FDA ban on blood donations from men who have had sex with other men.

Since 1977, the United States Food and Drug Administration has not budged from its stance on blood donations from men who have sex with men, allowing stereotypes and bigotry to guide its policy-making decisions, rather than letting the opinions of the vast majority of medical professionals in the United States steer its policies. Misconceptions and stereotypes about the gay community and HIV/AIDS within this community have led the FDA to disallow this group from donating blood, taking away the right of millions of Americans to help their fellow citizens. The medical community has called for the repeal of this antiquated rule on multiple occasions, citing the strict testing requirements of all blood donations, but the FDA has not listened. The Obama Administration must change this.
