America is losing in the arena of green energy policy. The government needs to substantially invest in the green energy sector to spur innovation and help decrease dependency on foreign and domestic fossil fuels. Aside from their environmental, foreign policy, and security consequences, fossil fuels are economically unsound in the long term.
Economic shocks from the inevitable exhaustion of limited oil reserves are a problem we can avoid by shifting away from these resources now.
America can and should manufacture a truly renewable green energy sector. Strong leadership from the Administration could start that process in a serious way.
