End the ban on equine slaughter and reinstate funding for USDA inspections of horse meat for export to other countries.

Created by B.B. on June 20, 2013

It is time to put an end to the ban on horse slaughter and reinstate funding for USDA inspections on the meat for human consumption in other countries.
Our legislators have disregarded the opinions of the majority of the equine industry. Horses are starving because they have no true monetary value. The slaughter industry is what set the baseline value for horses across the United States. With out this baseline our unwanted horses that are lucky enough are shipped to Mexico or Canada where the treatment of them is less humane.
The majority of industry is recovering the Horse Industry is floundering.
I know of what I speak. I am a responsible AQHA registered breeder. Horses are Livestock, NOT PET's. I too love my horses, but slaughter is necessary. Common sense needs to prevail.
