The tragic events of 9/11 had a disastrous unforseen consequence for the American people - the end of our privacy, through the Patriot Act which still remains in effect today, despite our 'war on terror' coming to an end.
I plead to you Mr. Obama, and the White House administration to end this blatant violation of privacy for hundreds of millions of Americans. With the recent findings by The Guardian, and reports from dozens of former intelligence members and politicians, it has become even more clear how widespread this invasion of privacy has become a under the Obama administration.
You promised us transparency, Mr President. So why then even more secrecy and domestic spying? Surely there are better ways of monitoring and tracking suspects. More open discussion needs to happen NOW.
