We must end book bannings. When schools and libraries ban books, it is violating our First Amendment rights. When libraries ban books, they limit what their readers can read, seeing that some readers can only afford libraries. Reading opens our eyes to new worlds and new ideas. In cases like Riverside School District banning John Green's "The Fault in Our Stars", they ban the book for its inappropriate sexual activity and its focus on mortality, but both sexuality and mortality will be present in a child's life, regardless if they read a certain book or not. Parents were outraged that 11 through 14 year-olds were reading such a book, but personal ideals are no reason to infringe on other people's rights. By signing this petition, we urge the end of book bannings in public libraries
