End the boycott of Cuba and move toward formal recognition as the best way to encourage positive change in Cuba.

While isolating Cuba in the 1960s may have made sense, it is now a policy that is thoroughly outdated. The best way to encourage the Cuban government to move toward democracy, open markets and a more open society is to actively engage Cuba rather than continuing to isolate it. Therefore the US government should end the commercial boycott of Cuba, move toward formal diplomatic recognition and encourage the American private sector to invest in and trade with Cuba.
