End breed-specific dog bans with federal legislation declaring them illegal.

Created by J.K. on October 27, 2013

Breed-specific bans are taking away good, family pets from law-abiding families and sending them off to be killed. These bans are overreactions to horrible dog owners who abuse or neglect their pets, and they target the wrong part of the problem. Further, they infringe on our basic civil liberties by preventing us from moving to certain cities, or forcing us to give up beloved members of the family.

A recent study published in the NY Times shows dogs have emotions similar to humans. A test published in the Huffington Post shows dogs often banned (Pit Bulls and Rottweilers) are among the best scorers in temperament tests.

It's time to end breed-specific bans so families can enjoy these sweet dogs in homes of their choosing, without fear that someone will take them away and kill them.
