Washington is broken. Our representitives are bought and paid for by special interest groups and are not representing the people for whom they work. Any elected official that accepts money from lobbyists is in fact being bribed. This is a criminal act, and should be punished as such. Any elected official, or their staff, that accepts a bribe should be removed from office immediately and banned from holding any public office. Any person offering a bribe to an elected official or staff member, should be charged with criminal behavior and fined and sentenced accordingly. If we remove the money from Washington, maybe, just maybe then, the elected officials will get back to the job they were elected to do, which is represent We the People.
