The AAPA is tailored for those who have supported the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF)/NATO war effort.
AAPA allocated 7,500 visas for Afghan interpreters and their families. Since 2009 until today more than 5,700 Afghans have applied for U.S. visas, yet just 32 have been approved.
All Afghans and their families who contribute to the ISAF/NATO mission are hunted and vulnerable: they are high-priority targets for the Taliban as the American war effort draws down.
Without these tremendous sacrifices by these critical allies and their trust in us, we cannot successfully complete our mission in Afghanistan.
I urge you to send a special envoy to the U.S. Embassy in Kabul in order to process the backlog of visa applications expeditiously and fairly.
