You wouldn't censor Michelangelo's Statue of David would you? Or Botticelli's The Birth of Venus? Or the hundreds of innuendos and inappropriate words in the works of Shakespeare? Yet do we not define these as art? Why does the Federal Communication Commission desire to censor our generations answer to art, yet allows equally obscene pictures to be shown publicly at schools and libraries?
Since 1934, the FCC has been censoring radio and network television. Although our cooperation with the FCC has worked on several levels for nearly a century, it is time we evolve as a country and end the ridiculous and harmful censorship they impose on us. It is time parents took responsibility for what their children watch and for the networks to remain true to their target audience.
