Most people don't think of children, when they hear the word homeless, and many people are not aware of the extent of child homelessness, which translates to limited public outcry, and for that reason the issue is falling lower on policymakers agendas.
Not in some third world country, but right here in America, over 2 million homeless children are struggling to survive in every state, in rural, urban and suburban areas, and despite the severity of the problem, state level planning and policy responses are very limited.
It is not acceptable for children to be without a roof over their heads in a country as wealthy as ours, and as Americans we must provide support to families so that each child has the basic necessities of life, including a place to call home.
