It unfortunately does not take much digging through history to fully understand the man that Christopher Columbus was. He massacred whole tribes and enslaved natives among various other horrible actions he condoned to control a population. His end goal was to amass a large wealth of gold, not to create a nation.
This is why we should end the celebration of his name and actions. There are far better people in our nations history for us to celebrate.
