America has celebrated Columbus day for a long time, this needs to end.
Christopher Columbus did not discover what we now call the United States of America, only Central America.
He brutally enslaved the Natives, forcing them to do hard labor. He enforced his rule using torture and bloody force. America, a country so sensitive to slavery, is celebrating a man who enslaved many.
America needs to end this holiday. Many states already having, replacing the holiday with Native American Appreciation day with education about their culture, or any number of other alternatives.
