end the congressional August Recess. There is no rational need for a 5 week break.

Created by R.W. on March 12, 2013

I am asking the administration to stop congress from taking their summer recess. With the easy access to air and rail travel, as well as the ability to use voice and video via the internet, this break is no longer needed. With all of the work that needs done, taking time off during the summer sends the wrong message to the common man. Congressional leaders can still take their standard vacation, but we no longer need the congressional mandate from 1970 to provide an addtional 5 weeks off. As we pay their salaries (and very good ones at that), I would like to know that we are receiving a full years worth of work.
