End Congressional Pensions

Created by P.L. on January 18, 2013

The average salary of members of Congress is $174,000/year. This is well above the average salary of the United States citizen and therefore it is unreasonable for them to receive a pension on top of this high salary. Our country is not able to keep its spending under control and the current system of government rewards members of Congress for trying to stay in power for as long as possible as opposed to performing the will of the people that they represent or protecting the country that they are supposed to love. With corruption and partisan divides stalling the momentum of the greatest country in the world, I hereby petition President Barack Obama to end Congressional pension payments post-haste. Members of Congress should no longer be allowed to profit on the peoples' behalf.
