End Congressional Pensions

Created by K.T. on November 28, 2012

Many in the private-sector workforce have seen their pensions vanish over the past several years and find themselves with uncertain, market-based 401(k) plans (if offered) or low interest bank savings accounts. However, members of Congress receive both a pension and a quality employer-match 401(k) plan, in addition to excellent healthcare.

The government unfairly asks its citizens to pay more taxes, but raising taxes alone will not solve the economic crisis this country is facing. Government spending is out of control and it is time that the lawmakers set an example for the country. Government pension reform is just one of the many things that need to change to get this country back on track.

Leaders should never ask others to do anything that they themselves would be unwilling to do.
