Mr. President,
In your State of the Union address, you said:
"... we can’t ask senior citizens and working families to shoulder the entire burden of deficit reduction while asking nothing more from the wealthiest and most powerful."
In my mind there is no greater example of government waste than the provision in Medicare Part D that forbids the federal government from negotiating drug prices for Medicare recipients.
The entire purpose of government is for citizens to come together to do things collectively, at a net economic benefit for all over doing them separately. This provision is in complete opposition to that purpose and does not advance the interests of Medicare recipients or the common good.
