End cruel and harmful factory farming; give subsidies to healthy and environmentally sustainable food sources.

Created by J.D. on September 30, 2011

Animal welfare, public health and protection of the environment are three concerns consumers have regarding modern food systems. Factory farming routinely violates each of these concerns. Sentient animals are raised in appalling conditions and killed with equal cruelty. Chronic diseases such as heart disease, obesity and diabetes are linked to diets rich in animal fat and protein. Factory farming contributes to global warming, more than all the transportation sectors combined. Ironically, subsidies are given to factory farms responsible for countless ethical, health and environmental issues. Subsidies need to be given to food sources that contribute to the good health and well-being of humans, animals and the planet.
