The Cuban embargo is an outdated relic from the Cold War era. It arose primarily out of an opposition to the Soviet Union's alliance with Cuba and the potential placement of nuclear weapons in Cuba. The United States is no longer in fear of the Communist bloc and has since created numerous trade relationships with Communist nations. In addition, the United Nations has issued resolutions against the US embargo on Cuba every year since 1992. Relationships with cuba would allow for mutually beneficial trade relationships. Recognizing that the Cuban embargo is outdated we hereby petition the United States government to end the embargo against Cuba and allow full trade relations with the Republic of Cuba.
