End Daylight Savings Time

Created by B.P. on March 08, 2015

Daylight Savings Time is obsolete and unnecessary and the United States should move away from the practice.

The government introduced the act in 1918 as a way of stimulating commerce during World War I, and in the 1970s it was used as a push for energy savings. However, studies have shown that these benefits are negligible.

1. A UC Berkeley study in 2007 concluded that Australia's efforts to lengthen Daylight Savings Time by 2 months during the Sydney Olympics produced no recognizable energy savings.
2. A study by the Dept. of Transportation in the 1970s concluded that energy savings as a result of DST were minimal.

Millions of people in US territories and the state of Arizona do not practice DST, the rest of the country should do the same.
