End the Death Penalty.

The death penalty is an admission of failure. It not only ends the suffering of those who caused suffering, but it projects the government into the role of God. If a government can be wrong and make a fatal mistake, as it has time and time again, it is dangerous for all. Also, death penalties deny us the understanding of the psychology and sociology of what went wrong with a member of society. Throwing away this possibility of understanding makes self-correction of whatever went wrong far less possible, whether it was from child rearing, schooling, socio-economic factors, genetics, disease, etc. More importantly it endangers future victims of the foresight and knowledge which would otherwise prevent more crime and suffering. This isn't an appeal to sympathy but common sense.
