End the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA)

The Declaration of Independence states:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

The rights of people to be happy should not need to be voted on, they should automatically be protected and supported.

The separation of church and state should also prevent religious influence in civil matters, including the right to marry.

DOMA represents antiquated ideals and is unconstitutional. It makes same-sex couples into second-class citizens and violates the tenth amendment.

DOMA dehumanizes same-sex couples, promotes hatred against the gay community and depicts one group of Americans as a threat to the community. It must end.
