End Discrimination in Hiring for Behavioral Health Positions

Created by K.Y. on December 11, 2012

Currently most behavioral health positions in the Federal Government are doled out prejudicially ONLY to Social Workers and Psychologists, meaning those who have degrees only from a limited selection of programs. That means THOUSANDS of equally or better-qualified counselors and therapists are not even considered, regardless of education with advanced and superior degrees, years more experience, and hours more specific training. Recently I even saw a job posting on USAJobs.gov for a position for marriage and family therapy open ONLY to Social Work degrees, excluding persons with Marriage and Family Therapy degrees!!! Clearly discrimination in hiring. Counseling and therapy positions and related jobs should be open to ALL disciplines including LPCs, LMFTs...
