It is common practice in the United States to decline someone for employment based on the presence of tattoos visible while wearing the work uniform, regardless of content. Tattoos are becoming more and more common and socially acceptable in our communities. A survey by USA TODAY said that 24% Americans between the ages of 18-50 had a tattoo. 36% between 18-29 had a tattoo. If more and more people accept tattoos, than why is it acceptable to discriminate against them in the work place? We the People, petition the Obama administration to end hiring discrimination against people with visible tattoos in cases where the tattoo is not vulgar, offensive, or promoting illegal activity.
