End the disparity in funding and environmental protection on American Indian lands.

For many years, Tribal governments have lacked in essential funding to develop proper environmental protection programs, that is routed through the USEPA. As a result, pollution is higher on Indian Reservations, drinking water is more unsafe, and the people are disproportionately affected, which creates an environmental injustice. The President and the USEPA has reinforced their commitment to tribal people and lands and to tackle Environmental Justice. We therefore petition the Obama Administration to take forward this request and help tribal governments to be treated like a State and funded like a State for their delegated authorities under the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Acts, removing categorical and formulaic barriers to access to funding that disable proper environmental protection.
