The United States is the front-runner in the use of unmanned military aircraft. When used for intelligence, these machines have been a valuable asset. However when used to engage enemy targets, mistakes seem to be inevitable. The amount of civilian loss of life due to drone use abroad is unacceptable and counterproductive to our defense and security goals. Recently, in the news, a group of vehicles traveling to a Yemeni wedding was decimated, leading to at least 14 civilian deaths. This is not the first time casualties like this have occurred. Killing civilians, accidentally or not, is a form of terrorism, and is recruiting fodder for the militant groups these strikes are supposed to be targeting. The use of drones as weapons was a bad choice and this practice must be ceased immediately.
