End drug test/screening requirements for employment because it disproportionately affects minorities.

Created by V.W. on April 20, 2016

Here in the United States, many employers require drug test/screening prior to employment as a requirement that one be "drug free" to gain employment. This policy disproportionately affects young minorities and those who live in low income neighborhoods.A person's chances of getting a job should be based on their competence to perform well on the job and not preconceptions and stereotypes that is associated with drug use.Take for example a person who is a chronic alcoholic, yet passes a drug test since drug test do not screen for alcohol; is this person more likely to perform better on a job than someone who is a chronic drug user? This petition seeks to give equal employment opportunities to all. We also urge employers to focus more on face to face interviews as an effective hiring method
