While having more daylight for longer is nice, is it really necessary to have daylight until 9 pm? Losing an hour of sleep each year causes many people to feel out of sorts & unable to function properly for several days after. Many times mothers with small children will start moving their children's' schedules ahead in 15 minute increments days in advance of DST so that when the time does change the children won't be affected so negatively. There have been many claims that DST was implemented to help farmers and/or conserve power by staying light longer, but those reasons don't seem relevant any longer.
