Mr. President,
The traditional seating (by party) of the Senate and House of Representatives does not promote a system of bi-partisanship. In fact it creates a physical atmosphere of "us vs. them" that is the exact opposite of working together to serve the people of the nation.
We elect our representatives to do just that; represent the interests, concerns, values of their state (or district). Yes, the political party does play a role in the election process; but no matter the party we expect our Senators and Congressman/woman to work with their fellow representatives to serve the electorate.
Please end this practice of sitting by party and instead seat the Senate and Congress by the states they are elected to represent.
Thank you for this opportunity to speak with you.
