EIC and additional Child Tax Credit is just a gateway to fraud, id theft and laziness. Billions if not trillions of dollars are thrown away at the people who are claiming they are either "self employed" with no verification or claiming dependents that aren't theirs. They do NOT pay taxes but instead are a burden on the tax system. They collect welfare but these credits that can total more than $9,000.00 per person do not get reported to welfare as income. This is a fact from someone who sees this from the inside. Make it so they must produce bank statements/receipts/etc to verify their "self employment" and increase this ridiculous benefit to people who are actually paying taxes such as the middle class who get no benefits at all. Allow it for no more than 3 years and lower the amount.
